God Eater Episode 2: Lindow Amamiya - Bobble Reviews

I'm not sure how much longer I can go on blogging this show, but I will try, gosh dangit. Because If You Thought Chaos Dragon Was The Darkest Anime Of The Season . . . then you're missing out on the show whose characters' idea of a good, informative poster to put on the wall is the most general of all world maps.

Everyone is impressed with Lenka's rare transforming sword-gun weapon bracelet, but they are much less impressed with the fact that he not only disobeyed orders by running into combat untrained, but also nearly got himself killed! And the only reason he survived is because – in an embarrassing twist of fate – the guy who just stood there on a ledge, shot and got punched a million miles away at the end of last episode...is the one who saved his life from a monster that randomly appeared above him! And his name was Eric, for crying out loud!

No, he didn't get mauled, he just bit his tongue.

So now, because he went into combat completely and utterly unprepared, Lenka is spending this episode in the hoosegow.

Or maybe he's eating at the Medieval Times?

While that's going on, the head honchos of this dark, god-forsaken wartime dark dark hellhole with the Aegis Plan and the under-the-table machinations are trying to decide what to do with him, since he's dumb, but he's also got rare powers. They're like NERV on a budget.

Even "SOUND ONLY" is more impressive than this.

Hey, at least while he's here, Lenka can get some words of encouragement featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series.

Oh man, he's staring dramatically at Lenka's compass!

His coolness slays me.

A little later, there is a funeral. Somehow, since this show is so dark, it is even more drab and depressing than most real-life funerals. They went through the trouble of buying a whole lot of cans of beer to pass around and toast Eric's greatness with, but they don't even raise their arms halfway.

So it's like "TO ERIC!" and then "yeaaahehemhaemhmem*cough*"

But if you were excited for more action, then wo-ho-hoah, get ready, 'cause the higher-ups have decided they can still put Laika to good use. You see, a huge jumbo jet has been flying over to their base, straight from Russia, and it holds a total of two passengers.

A prideful pride pride and her dashing stubble steed.

But because this world is supposed to be infested with Aragami monsters, it and the fleet around it suddenly get attacked by massive nippers. Only Ranma, this other superpowered girl and a bunch of other strong soldier young people can put an end to this carnage! So ends this episode: on a punchy cliffhanger!
