Venus Project: Climax Episode 4: The Power to Dream, the Power to Share Dreams – Beeble Reviews

But someday, she will be the one to pilot the Gunbuster and save us all...

Today’s episode is ALLLLL about FRIEND!! You know, the one who’s with MC!

Yeah, her I think!

Before that though, we have a tiny block on the road...

"If only he knew Coaches didn't make it through Episode 6 of 6..."

Orange has a real nice orphan party (pharty) to celebrate her robot’s kicking a Zoid’s ass!

"Thanks! It was the first round so they sucked on purpose!"

How is Friend doing by the way?

OH DUDE RAD SHE EATS IN THE CITIZEN KANE DINING ROOM IT'S THE SAME TABLE

As it so turns out, Friend may be rich in friendship, and in money...but not in mothers. She was raised from youth to be the next head of the family business, but she was never interested in that nonsense. She wanted to IDOL, god dammit.

“I CAN MAKE ROBOTS AND BREAK EVERYTHING IF I LEARN TO DANCE?!?! I’M IN

She could never break out of her pre-established mold, due to fear of her mother’s repercussions...until that fateful day with that jerkwad in her class.

So you sign her up for the idol auditions just so you won't feel lonely, FULL WELL knowing that if she finds out her mom is gonna hire someone to kick her ass later?! Yeah, see that's why you don't have an ACTUAL name, STUDENT NUMBER 17.

What an asshole. I’m so glad she’s just used as a stepping stone to connect Friend to Manager and Coach.

"Hm, that rich lady's daughter? Payday~~~"

"And I didn't even practice or anything. I must be REALLY good!"

"Don't worry, for the LOW LOW PRICE of as much as you make in a month, we can take your daughter RIGHT to the top!"

Since her mom is a mean rich mom lady, Friend is given an ultimatum: win a competition really quickly already, or get back in the business. So the training begins, to prove to her mom that idols are the ones who bring people dreams...of jacking off, and wasting money, but also summon robots for still no reason.

After which, we get the stirring union of Orange and Friend.

Great! And now we know she eats people. And not lame at all.

Then one day, Orange tells Friend that she wanted to be an idol because she was abandoned and wanted to make friends and stuff. But she’s already done that, and brought her community together by the orphanage, so she can just stop and go home, meanwhile Friend’s trying to do this long-term to follow her own heart and avoid the business life ball-and-chain. Great! I don’t wanna see Orange win, she doesn’t lose ANYTHIING from the contest while meanwhile, Friend’s losing her independence, Li’l Sick Girl’s supporting an ENTIRE NATION ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET and Tiny Top Hat’s getting beat with a rubber hose by the Evil Goth Brigade as we speak! I guess it’d be nice if she could get the orphanage some extra cash, but that’s, by her own admission, not her priority. What a shame.

Sometime later...

Armed with this information Orange leaves to talk things out with Coach...

OF COURSE you can’t leave this one single tournament at the beginning of your career to pursue the many that will come your way in the future! Because you just really really REALLY GOTTA WANT IT SISTAH YOU’RE THROWING AWAY YOUR FRIEND’S CAREER YOU KNOW

"She's just going to lose anyway, she's up against the main character this round."

Then they fight.

WWWOAH SHE SUMMONS FAIRIES THAT THROW BULLETS IN YOUR FACE THAT'S WAY COOLER THAN JUST THE GUY WHO JUMPS AND PUNCHES

SHITBALLS It'S MONZAEMON FROM THAT ONE DIGIMON EP!!!

yea see punched 'em I'm not surprised

squished 'er blah

And thus, Friend publically retires from the idol biz in front of everybody.

"I'M SO SORRY I'M NOT SORRY!!!!"

"YOU'RE the one who ruined MY future, after all."
