Well, while that happens at some point in the day, the girls start covering the notes they’d found the night prior. There’s a large section in the back of the manual they discovered from Sensei’s things all about an emergency escape route built into the school...by whomever had either recognized this viral breakout before it happened or even had helped to engineer it...and then Yuki goes “let’s go swimming” and then screw everything it’s K-ON in the pool for an entire episode.

I DO think this show’s only truly gripping when it can be dark and portrays her mental issues as incongruous with the world around her, but this just stifles me.

K-ON! shit happens, as it must in every single episode to standard effect. If there’s a real awful part of this anime, it’s that it doesn’t take advantage of the slice-of-life genre subversion correctly enough. Sure, they use it to engage in activities that drive them to push the plot forward through conversations. You can do this, you can make each character incredibly interesting with the formula...but you don’t have to really INDULGE in the moeshit weeb flannel-shirt otaku material when you're Jonesing for filler clearly for the male audience or the female audience that'll entertain it just to reach the conversations.
