Owarimonogatari Episode 3: Sodachi Riddle Part 1 — Beeble Reviews

Recap: Araragi was in class with girl. Girl is awful. Girl leaves school due to massive misunderstanding. Girl is now back in class. Yet, they make sure to make a massive mention of this: Sodachi hates his fuckin’ guts, but he feels ambivalent-to-positive to her. Maybe from guilt?

Now what’s the framing device of the day?

Flashback during a trip? Sure, that works!

So back before they go there, Araragi discovers Hanekawa has met his good ol’ buddy.

Thanks for the help, friend!

It’s time to bite the bullet folks, he’s gonna have six months of class left with this Sodachi jerkhole so he’d better make it work.

So begins a painful passive-aggressive recollection of how much her life sucks and how his is great and hot geez they’re going to try to make her come out of the Sodachi arcs as a likable character SOMEHOW huh oh gosh

If we team up, and we corner her in the dead of night we might be able to take her down together

She’s just that person in high school who hates somebody so much that they freak out and self-destruct. There is simply 0 chill to her, yo. She goes on and on about having SUPER UNIMAGINABLY DEEP WELLSPRINGS OF DISGUST TOWARD ALL THE WORLD’S SHEEPLE (araragi), channeling all the forces of adolescence from all corners of the world just to yell at this guy who scored better on a math test.

Mmmmayyyyybe if you talked your issues out with other people instead of living on your own power...?

Oh okay that explains the framing device

Come on now, let’s try to drive this down Araragi, this is dragging on a little unhealthily.

TURN AND LEAVE MAN JUST TURN AND LEAVE

ohnononononononono

You stupid idiot, you just called the thunder.

I could just watch that every week.

So anyway then they went to the school. The letter in that locker has a variant of that gameshow ‘Monty Hall Problem.’ *there are three doors, you choose one at a 33% win rate, they open one of the wrong ones and ask you to re-choose with a now 50% win rate.

Yeah, it’s like this but without as much Splatoon and PPG.

Doing so with envelopes lends them a map to more fun logic games!! maybe and, more immediately a spooky old house Araragi used to spend time at during one middle school summer.

A skeleton snaps through the gate, screams, “BOO!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN” and invites the two in for tea.

Going through the place Ougi keeps making conversation.

Oh so he literally cannot keep himself from explaining his life and times to Ougi, and not saying something is considered lying by omission and there was GHOST EATY THING that ATE LIAR GHOSTS and ALL I’M SAYING GUYS IS MAYBE

Hmmmmm???

HMMMMMMMMM????

The episode ends by taking the kids to the upper floor where they find a table.

Yup.

Table why? Table, because TUNE IN FOR THE SECOND THIRD OF YOUR TV MOVIE!!!!

UMMM THIS TOO MAYBE?
